Today, Gerald Vernon-Jackson has been looking into affordable housing in Portsmouth by visiting the Guardians Gate development.
“It was really interesting to learn more about the housing that is being built here in the city. It is so important that new housing in Portsmouth is sustainable and that a sensible proportion of any new development is affordable housing so that there are homes for local families to buy and live in.”
Guardians Gate is being built next to St Mary’s Hospital in Milton. The development is in its third and final stage of building with over half of the 191 homes already built including 55 affordable homes. The visit to this Bellway development was organised by the NHBC (National Housing Building Council).
Ian Beal, Managing Director for Bellway Homes Wessex Region commented:
“Fourteen of the affordable homes have been sold so far and it was a pleasure to welcome Mr Vernon-Jackson and the NHBC to see this very impressive scheme being built for the residents of Portsmouth.”
NHBC’s Head of Corporate and External Affairs, Lewis Sidnick, added:
“We’re delighted have shown Gerald Vernon-Jackson first-hand how we are helping builders to construct high quality new homes in Portsmouth South.”
